LIMA — Letters and phone calls will go out today informing Lima Senior High School students and parents of safety policies that are being put in place until further notice.
Included is that all book bags, purses and athletic bags will be searched when students enter the building. No book bags or large purses are allowed this week. They will be allowed again when students return from spring break April 11.
The safety measures come following five bomb threat to Lima schools in the last two months. Two people have been arrested for four of them. About 100 students protested last week after school officials said no book bags.
Students can carry clear book bags throughout the day starting April 11. Those bags will also be subject to a search at the beginning of the day. All non-clear book bags must be stored in lockers during the school day. Athletic bags must be stored in coaches areas.
