OTTAWAPutnam County Adult Basic and Literacy Education classes for both new and returning students will begin Sept. 27. Classes are offered for GED preparation and test-taking tips, as well as Distance Learning GED preparation.Transition classes are available for individuals who have received a GED diploma and need to prepare for college-level classes, which concentrate on mathematics, reading and writing. The program also offers citizenship classes, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and workplace literacy.Registration includes an orientation and placement testing. Students may start at any time to begin the process.GED preparation and transition classes are held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays at Continental Elementary School, and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Putnam County Educational Service Center.TESOL and citizenship classes are held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Putnam County Educational Service CenterFor information, call Jack Betscher at 419-523-5951.
