LIMA — Two people were shot Tuesday night within a short time of each other on opposite sides of the city, police said.Police were first called to Cook Park about 6:50 p.m., where they found Carlton Thomas with a gunshot wound to his leg, Patrolman Aaron Rode said.About two hours later, a second shooting was reported in the 900 block of Richie Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Greg Kirkendall said medics found someone with a gunshot wound in the lower leg at 1025 Richie Ave., next door to Calvary Church.Police were not yet sure of that person's identity. Both victims were expected to survive, Rode said.Officers searched around Calvary Church and the homes next door to it, but left the scene soon after the ambulance pulled away with lights and siren blaring. No officials at the scene commented, but a woman who lives on Richie Avenue near the church said she heard four evenly spaced gunshots from inside her home.Police had not made any arrests as of late Tuesday night. At that time, there did not appear to be a connection between the two shootings, officials said. You can comment on this story at www.limaohio.com.
