Flooding persists in parts of region

FORT JENNINGS Areas of flooding and high water persist across the region a week after the first in a series of drenching storms moved through the area. Another system moving into the region Tuesday into Wednesday will again bring the likelihood of renewed flooding, forecasters said.The Auglaize River at Fort Jennings remains above flood stage nearly a week after the fourth-highest crest on record. The river crested on March 1 at 18.95 feet. The river crested again at 3 a.m. today at 14.2 feet and is currently down to 14.06 feet as of 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in North Webster, Ind.In Ottawa, the Blanchard River remains just above flood stage at 23.06 feet as of 7:30 a.m. The river is expected to crest at 7 p.m. today at about 23.2 feet, forecasters said.The next storm system is expected to bring generally 1 to 2 inches of rain. Areas in excess of 3 inches will be possible, forecasters said.
