LIMA - 2:10 p.m., May. 6 - A mini version of an amusement park is going up at Lima Senior High School this week.
Algebra II students in Carol Baumgarte's class and physics students in Chris Allen's class are putting their math and physics skills to work and building roller coasters from plastic tubing.
Taking what they have learned in class, students are determining the roller coasters' speed and velocity. They are also constructing a pendulum and demonstrating vertical drops.
The project, which started Monday, will continue through Wednesday. The class culminates in a trip to Cedar Point, where students will measure heights and velocities on real roller coasters.
