Kathryn N. Grapner, 95, died at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born March 4, 1912, in Allen County to Cloyd and Missouri Briggs Sawmiller, who preceded her in death. On May 18, 1935, she married George S. Grapner, who died April 20, 1997.
Mrs. Grapner was a homemaker and had worked at DWG Cigar Factory, Banta Candy and Sioux Bee Honey Factory. She was a member of Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. She was a faithful Christian and loved serving the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Denny J. (Carole) Grapner and Terry L. (Kathy) Grapner, both of Elida; a daughter, Shirley A. Johnson, of Elida; eight grandchildren, Michael (Brenda) Clinger, Lynn Musto, Kim (William) Slane, Natalie (Fred) Deerhake, Scott (Michelle) Grapner, Todd (Ruby) Grapner, Heidi Grimm and Jeremy Grapner; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Holler, of Lima, and Alta Mae Miller, of California; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Schiffler, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William and infant Cloyd Clinger; three sisters, Ruth Holtzapple, Florence Highland and Vera Carey; a son-in-law, Robert S. Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Stacy Grapner; and three brothers, Otto and John Sawmiller and Clyde Long.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Robert Ferrell will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
