WAPAKONETA — Connor Metz is a senior this year at Wapakoneta High School. His favorite class is anatomy because he enjoys learning about the muscles and the body. His fascination is not so surprising because Metz is a dual-sport athlete himself. He plays both football and basketball. His position on the high school football team is a strong safety. On the varsity basketball team, he fills the shooting guard position.“I've played both since I was 8 or 9 years old,” he said. “I like everything about both of them, but football is probably my favorite.”Metz is also very involved at various school organizations. He belongs to the National Honor Society and the Octagon Club. He is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the W Club. “The W Club is a sports leadership team,” he said.In addition, he is also involved in his youth group at First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. Metz is planning on majoring in computer science engineering. He has not decided on a college, but has narrowed his choices down to either University of Cincinnati or Miami University in Oxford.“My dream would be to work for Apple,” he said. He added about Steve Jobs' recent death, “It's crazy, just the whole thing. Hopefully, that won't affect the company much though.”When he is not playing sports or participating in school activities, Metz enjoys going to watch his friends play sports. “I've gone to 90 percent of the games for volleyball,” he said. “I've been doing that since I was a freshman.”
