CelinaHelen Hazel Swink Smith, 100, died at 4 p.m. Sept. 26, 2011, at the Miller House, Celina.She was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Wapakoneta to Harry and Mary Varner Swink. On Aug. 25, 1933, she married Gerald William Smith, who died in 1982.Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Blume High School, Wapakoneta. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Celina, for more than 75 years, where she was involved with the Wesley Class, Martha Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 91, Celina, where she was a past worthy matron, past grand representative to Utah, and an amaranth. She was a member of the American Legion Post 210 Auxiliary, the Shakespeare Club, Ars Nova Club, Mercer 40 et 8 Cabane 828, Mercer County Historical Society and the Mercer County Sportsman Association, all in Celina, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Lima. She was a volunteer with the Community Health Professionals, Celina.Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Sue Locke, of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Kelly (Kyle) Coe, of Findlay, and Kami (Jerry) Minor, of Rockford, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Kira Coe and Kaleb Coe, both of Findlay, Garald Cress, of Cridersville, and Jimi Bennett, of Rockford, Ill.She was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald Wayne and John William Smith; a son-in-law, Edward Locke; four brothers, Claude, John, Roy and Arthur (Jean) Swink; and two sisters, Carol Swink and Martha (Ercil) Hengstler.Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Celina. The Rev. Matt Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in North Grove Cemetery, Celina.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, where an OES services will be held at 2 p.m., and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church.Condolences may be expressed at www.LHDfuneralhome.com.
