I was pleasantly surprised, no make that ecstatic, when I saw the long list of college football scores in the sports section this past Sunday. I was even more thrilled when I saw an even more complete list of college football scores in the Monday paper.
I have wanted to see this for a long time. Keep this coming every week.
One more thing I’d like to see is the weekly standings for the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Heartland Athletic Conference because we have Ohio Northern and Bluffton so near.
If a broadcast sports announcer was to read all those scores he would use up all the time allotted for news, sports and weather. And then the listener wouldn’t be able to go back over the information and study it in detail unless he had recorded it.
The broadcast media also doesn’t cover the smaller colleges. They only have time for the big schools and not all of them. The biggest advantage the newsprint media enjoys over the broadcast media is the ability to provide a large amount of detailed data. Keep exploiting that advantage.
