LIMA — Maybe he shouldn’t have insulted her barbecue. At least not when the cook had been drinking.
Police are still trying to sort out what exactly happened Sunday night when a Lima man was treated at the scene after being cut in the forehead during a back-yard barbecue gone wrong. The woman who stabbed him faces formal charges today.
Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, officers from the department had responded to an unrelated non-injury vehicle accident at the intersection of North Collett and West Wayne Street when a woman ran out of 333 N. Collett St. to alert the officers of a stabbing behind the home.
After the officers ran to the scene in response, they found Shad C. Boyd, 38, bleeding from a cut to his forehead. Police officers discovered Pamela T. Lester, 47, in the back yard of the residence holding a knife. The intoxicated Lester was taken into custody without incident and the Lima Fire Department was called to treat Boyd’s wound.
Police later learned that the incident was started over an argument over barbecued meat.
Boyd’s injury was minor to the point that he could be treated at the scene by paramedics without having to be hospitalized.
Lester is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault.
