WAPAKONETA — A New Bremen teen died Saturday from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident.
Shelby Fear, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident, which occurred at 10:19 p.m.
According to a report from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fear was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus south on Plattner Pike about one-tenth of a mile south of Southland Road when he traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck several trees and overturned before coming to a rest on its top.
A passenger in the car, Tristan Hoffmaster, 18, also of New Bremen, suffered minor injuries and was taken by New Bremen EMS to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, where he was treated, then released.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Fear was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not suspected as being a factor in the crash. The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, New Bremen Fire Department and the St. Marys Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
