Baylor, Ohio State pass TCU in AP Top 25

GRAPEVINE, Texas — Baylor and Ohio State jumped past TCU in the final Associated Press college football poll Sunday.

No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Oregon held their places from last week in the final media poll of the regular season.

The Bears were fourth and Buckeyes were fifth, with TCU dropping to two spots to sixth after Baylor and Ohio State had impressive wins against ranked teams on Saturday.

TCU routed lowly Iowa State to finish its season as co-champion of the Big 12 with Baylor.

The rest of the top 10 is Michigan State at seven, followed by Mississippi State, Mississippi and Georgia Tech.

Lima boxers go 1-2 over the weekend

The Lima South Side Boxing Club posted a 1-2 record over the weekend.

Lima’s Kanye Williams won over Martin Shannon from Wauseon in the 70-pound pee wee division.

Detroit’s David Fecteu defeated Lima’s Jahosh Allen in a split decision in a 132-pound intermediate match. Fort Wayne’s Austin Manning defeated Lima’s Javionte Gaddy in a split decision.

Barons fall to OU-Chillicothe

LIMA — OU-Chillicothe knocked off OSU-Lima/Rhodes State 66-49 in a college women’s basketball game Sunday in Lima.

For the Barons, Megan Imwalle and Kylee Hooker both scored 19 points. Hannah Sensabaugh scored eight.

The Barons are 1-4.

ONU’s Cody Lovejoy wins ONU Invite

ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team finished seventh of 15 teams at the 34th Annual ONU Invitational tournament Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.

Seven Polar Bears placed in their respective weight classes, led by senior All-American Cody Lovejoy.

Ranked No. 4 nationally in NCAA Division III in the heavyweight weight class, the third-seeded Lovejoy defeated top-seeded and No. 7-ranked (NCAA Division II) Garrett Gray of Tiffin 8-5 in the finals.

Lovejoy went 5-0 on the day and is now 14-0 with a team-high 11 pins on the year.

Northern finished with 88 points. Olivet (Mich.) won the team title with 148 points, Alma (Mich.) was second with 143 points and No. 20-ranked (NCAA Division II) Tiffin was third with 132 points.

Junior Colt Lovejoy, who is ranked 18th nationally, posted a 5-2 record and placed fourth at 165 pounds. Both of his losses came to fifth-seeded and No. 12-ranked Nolan Barger of Lycoming (Pa.)

Lovejoy improves to 13-3 on the season.

Junior Tyler Gargano placed fourth with a 4-2 record and improves to 9-2 on the season.

Also at 174 pounds, freshman Alex Bair went 5-2 and placed fifth in his weight class. Bair improves to 7-6 on the season.

Freshman Evan Morgan placed sixth at 149 pounds with a 3-3 mark with one pin. Morgan improves to 10-7 on the campaign.
