LIMA — The Ellis family will again provide a meal and time of fellowship this Easter Sunday.
The 23rd annual Ellis Family Easter Dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
Last year’s dinner fed about 1,500 people, and organizer Kleet Ellis, owner of Ellis Door & Window Inc., expects this year the dinner will see about the same number of people.
Ellis’ father, Ralph, started the dinner in 1991 as a way to give back to the community and give people a place to go for dinner on Easter.
“We feel it brings the community a little closer by sharing the day together,” Ellis said.
About 80 volunteers, many of them longtime helpers, typically help put the day together and make it a success.
“We are very fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers year after year,” Ellis said. “The volunteers work very hard, which makes the dinner a success.”
The food drop has been eliminated and Ellis asked that anyone wanting to donate food to donate it to the food bank or pantry of their choice.
