LIMA — “The car of your life for the time of your life …” is how Chrysler executives marketed the 1960 Chrysler models, which included the 1960 Chrysler Windsor. The Windsor was a full-sized car built by Chrysler from 1939 through 1961. It was above the entry level Royal from 1939 to 1950. When the Royal was discontinued for the 1951 model year, the Windsor became Chrysler’s price leader. All Chrysler cars were restyled with styling by Virgil Exner in 1955. The first tail fins appeared in 1956 on Chrysler cars, and in 1957, the tailfins became taller with vertical taillights.
Charles Swords, of Lima, brought his 1960 Chrysler Windsor to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He has owned it for 12 years, and is the third owner. Swords says he loves driving his car as it gets a lot of looks from people as he drives by.
