ST. MARYS — Grand Lake Health System in St. Marys is taking precautions to limit the spread of the flu.

Due to what the system is calling a “marked increase” in patients with flu-like symptoms and it being flu season, Joint Township District Memorial Hospital and the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Associations implemented visitor restrictions starting Monday.

No one with any respiratory symptoms or under the age of 14 is allowed to visit the hospital, according to a press release from the health system.

“The action of restricting visitors exhibiting respiratory symptoms, including a fever or cough, and children under the age of 14 is a precautionary measure,” Bryan Buckley, President & CEO of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association, said in a statement. “Hospitals want to ensure they can keep patients and employees safe from respiratory infections, including the season flu virus, in order to provide the highest quality of healthcare availability in the region.”
