Allen East advances in girls soccer

HARROD — Savannah Silone scored three goals, Chelsea Laycock two and Marie Beach and Jade Meyer one each as Allen East advanced in the Division III girls soccer tournament Tuesday with a 7-0 victory over Cory-Rawson.

Teammate Kassidy Reneau had four saves to preserve the shutout.

The Mustangs will next play at noon Saturday at Van Buren.

Delphos St. Johns 1, Fort Jennings 0

FORT JENNINGS — Carleigh Ankerman scored the only goal as the Blue Jays moved on to play at Kalida at noon Saturday in the next round of the Division III tourney.

Miller City 2, Coldwater 1

COLDWATER — Megan Niese and Tiffany Welty each had a goal. Miller City will play in Lima against Lima Central Catholic at noon Saturday.

Alyssa Manley of Bath was named the Western Buckeye League Player of the Year.

Allen East’s Leah Casey was picked as the Northwest Conference Player of the Year and the Mustangs’ Lamar Houston Coach of the Year.

SPENCERVILLE — Jaret Montenery, David Wisher and Byron Gay each had a goal and teammate Byron Gay made six saves as the Bearcats advanced to play at 6 p.m. Saturday at Kalida.

Zac Nelson of St. Marys was selected as the Western Buckeye League Player of the Year.
