BEATRICE E. "BETTY" VORHEES, 84, died at 4:38 a.m. Nov. 11, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Marion, Ind., to Russell G. and Nora Ellen Flook Stewart, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 14, 1945, she married Carl E. Vorhees, who died Oct. 20, 2000.

Mrs. Vorhees was a homemaker and had worked at the telephone company, Cussins & Ferns & Artex Paints. She loved to play bingo, and she loved life.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey E. (Kim) Vorhees of Lima; a daughter, Janice "Jan" (James) Ward of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Leesa Burchett, Lindsay Baxter and Tina Vorhees; and nine great-grandchildren, including Jeremy Vorhees, whom she was raising.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Meyer; and a grandson, Eric Knotts.

Services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
