Botkins

LAVERNE F. BROWN, 72, died at 9:20 a.m. June 7, 2007, at his Indian Lake residence.

He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Botkins to Lawrence M. and Nora Koenig Brown, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 15, 1966, he married Sherry J. Kemper, who survives.

Mr. Brown retired in 2004, as co-owner and president of Brown Industrial Inc., Botkins. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. He served as mayor of Botkins from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1533, Lakeview, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1170, Wapakoneta, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1403, Sidney. In 1966, he was a charter member of the Botkins Kiwanis Club, which became the Botkins Town & Country Service Club in 2002. He was a 1953 graduate of Botkins High School. He enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing.

Survivors also include four children, Stephanie Brown, of Columbus, Anne Brown (David) Patti, of Johnstown, and Natalie Brown and Scott Brown, both of Columbus; two grandchildren, Audrey and Colette; two sisters, Kathleen (John) Miller, of Piqua, and Laura Mae (Jerry) Boisard, of Sidney; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Brown, of Botkins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Donald Brown.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. The Rev. Harold Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta.
