Vivian I. Smith, 92, died at 2:45 pm. Aug. 20, 2007, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney.
She was born March 5, 1915, near Harrod to George Sherman and Myrtle Belle Greymire Kollars, who preceded her in death. On May 2, 1932, she married George William Smith, who died Nov. 4, 1997.
Mrs. Smith was a farmer's wife. She was a member of Lafayette Untied Methodist Church. She was a member of the Jackson Grange. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a great cook. She loved to crochet afghans and doilies and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include two sons, George (Evelyn) Smith, of Valparaiso, Ind., and Charles (Roberta) Smith, of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Joan Clark, of DeGraff, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith; and 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Smith; twin daughters, Darlene Kay and Marlene Fay Smith; a son-in-law, Louie Clark; five siblings, Audrey Hattery, Rosella Biteman and Calvin "Bud," Gerald, and Billy Lee Kollars; and three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Chaplain Philip K. Chilcothe will officiate. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
