Garland "Ray" Williams, 64, died Feb. 10, 2008, in Punta Gorda, Fla.
He was born June 5, 1943, in Dunbar, W.Va., to Mack C. and Dessie Binion Williams, who preceded him in death. On May 23, 1964, he married Barbara J. Fuchs Fox, who survives.
Mr. Williams retired in 1998 from production control at General Dynamics Tank Plant. He was a member of the Allied Men's Club, Dayton, the Jaycees in Englewood and Dearborn Heights, Mich., the Kiwanis, Botkins, the Lima Camera Club, Lima and SWAK and the Reel Club, both in Cape Coral, Fla. He enjoyed playing softball and fishing and loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He had also lived in Dayton, Botkins and Cape Coral, Fla.
Survivors also include four children, Michelle Freisthler, of Botkins, Regina (Matthew V.) Loncaric, of Hilliard, Garland Ray (Mary L.) Williams II, of Botkins, and Matthew M. (Allison) Williams, of Anna; two brothers, Earl (Reta) Williams, of Tipp City, and John (Yvonne) Williams, of Utah; two sisters, Alberta Snyder, of Tipp City, and Ernestine (Joe) Swallow, of Vandalia; a sister-in-law, Gerta Williams, of Louisville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Audley Lee and Navada James Williams; and a sister, Freada May Williams.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Only Believe Ministries, Botkins. Pastor Peter Doseck will officiate. Burial will be in Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins.
Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, and 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
