LINUS J. KAHLE, 85, died at 6:05 p.m. June 25, 2005, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
He was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Glandorf to Ben and Anna Schroeder Kahle, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Irene Niese, who survives.
Mr. Kahle was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Columbus Grove. He was also a life member of the Bowsers-Slusser American Legion Post 516 of Columbus Grove. He also served as the president of the board of directors of the Farmers Elevator, Beaverdam. He served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed bowling and polka dancing.
Survivors also include a son, Larry Kahle of Bluffton; a son-in-law, Robert C. Kiene of Columbus Grove; four daughters, Linda (Brice) Recker of Gahanna, Joanne (Donald) Lechner of Whitehouse, Connie (John) Niese of Columbus Grove and Julie (Charles) Zimomra of Coshocton; a sister, Rita Krienbrink of Leipsic; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Kahle of Columbus Grove and Anna Marie Kahle of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane L. Kiene; an infant son, Louis Kahle; a sister, Mary Siefker; and three brothers, Wilfred, Walter and Cyril Kahle.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Rev. Ron Warnimont will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.
