Martha Alice Meyers, 79, of Springfield, Mo., and formerly of Leipsic, died June 26, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Lima to Lawrence Charles and Martha Turner Neu, who preceded her in death. In 1947, she married Robert W. "Bob" Meyers, who survives.
Mrs. Meyers was a member of First & Calvary Presbyterian Church, Springfield, Mo. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as matron in 1959 and 1983. She was a member of the Daughters of American Colonists and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had served as president of the Springfield Opera Guild and as an officer in the Hospitality Club. She was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and had attended The Ohio State University. She and her husband had lived in Leipsic from 1950 to 1989, when they retired to Springfield, Mo. She cherished all of her friendships, many of which were formed through her love of bridge and knitting.
Survivors also include two children, Robert W. (Jan) Meyers Jr., of Redlands, Calif., and Martha Ann "Marty" Gentry, of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Rob Meyers and Will (Megan) Meyers, both of Redlands, Calif., James Gentry, of Springfield, Mo., and Sarah (Bobby) Gentry, of Warrensburg, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James William and Charles Reid Neu; an infant son, William Reid Meyers; and a son-in-law, Dr. James Lewis Gentry Jr.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church, Springfield, Mo.
