Mae Opal Carter, 85, died at 8:40 p.m. April 20, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born April 28, 1922, in Beaverdam to Roy and Florence Walters Beemer, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 11, 1943, she married Charles J. Carter, who died Dec. 29, 2007.
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and had worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton. She was a graduate of Beaverdam High School. She loved to travel, especially west, stopping in Las Vegas. She enjoyed playing dominoes and any type of card games. She also enjoyed her family gatherings.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Hugh) Rinehart, of Fort Jennings; a son, Danny (Dianne) Carter, of Lima; five grandchildren, Candice (Brad) Louth, Brad (Ann) Yerick, Jason (Brooke) Carter, Leslie Carter and Chad Dally; three brothers, Ralph Beemer, Donald (Roberta) Beemer and Larry (Carol) Beemer, all of Beaverdam; three sisters, LaDonna Stotts, of Lima, Gloria (Al) Neuenschwander, of Beaverdam, and Shirley Swartz, of Celina; a son-in-law, John Dally, of Lima; and nine great-grandchildren and her spoiled Boston terrier, Angel.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Dally; and a sister, Marcetta Mikesell.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton. The Rev. John Yohe will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Beaverdam.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
