ALPHONS W. MEYER JR., 69, died at 6:15 p.m. May 11, 2005, at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla.
He was born Feb. 29, 1936, near Pandora to Alphons and Ludmilla Heitmeyer Meyer, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Evelyn Fruchey, who survives.
Mr. Meyer farmed his entire life. He retired from the Ford Lima Engine Plant in 1994. He served in the National Guard, and was a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234, Ottawa, the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533, Lakeview, and St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors also include a son, Timothy (Kay) Meyer of Pandora; a daughter, Deborah (Joe) Kiene of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Kyle (Brandi) Meyer and Scott Meyer, both of Pandora, Kash Kiene of Oregon, Ohio, and Kelsea Kiene of Bluffton; three sisters, Eileen (Linus) Bockrath of Glandorf, and Evelyn (Richard) Miley and Erma (Roy) Scheckelhoff, both of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Betty Meyer of Pandora; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Denis Meyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Ron Warnimont will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with a Scripture service to be held at 8 p.m.
