PAULDING

Maxine I. Davis, 87, died at 5 a.m. April 27, 2008, at Hawthorn Court Nursing Home, Paulding.

She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Haviland to Edward and Grace King Burgess, who preceded her in death. On June 10, 1939, she married Robert F. Davis, who died April 1, 1991.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She had owned D&W Bakery, Paulding, for several years, and had worked at Paulding County Hospital, for 11 years. She was a 50-year member of Paulding United Methodist Church, Paulding. She was an active volunteer. She enjoyed baking and loved to spend time with her grandkids.

Survivor include a son, Robert (Holly) Davis II, of Paulding; a daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Schier of Paulding; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Burgess; and three sisters, LaDonna Smalley, Christine Winner and Ruthie Hartzog.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paulding United Methodist Church, Paulding. The Revs. Ben Lowell and Larry Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Wednesday, all at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Paulding United Methodist Church.
