Jean E. Diller, 84, died at 8:30 a.m. July 17, 2007, at her residence.
She was born April 11, 1923, in Akron to Franklin and Rose Anna Hayes Schramm, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 13, 1949, she married Norman J. Diller, who died Aug. 11, 1998.
Mrs. Diller was co-owner of Diller Hardware, Elida, for more than 35 years. She had worked at the Lima Tank Plant during World War II. She was a member of Gomer United Church of Christ, Gomer, and its Fidelis Circle. She was a 50-year member of Trinity Chapter 16 Order of Eastern Star, where she had served as matron in 1995 and 2002. In 1997, She served as deputy grand matron of District 8 of the Grand Chapter of Ohio. She was a graduate of Macksburg High School and Marietta Business College. She loved reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved baking pies for her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, George (Hope) Diller, of Elida; a daughter, Joyce (Tim) Larimore, of Gomer; two sisters, Grace (Fred) Schneeberger, and June (Raymond) Schneeberger, both of Caldwell; a brother, Earl (Jean) Schramm, of Marietta; four grandchildren, Ashli and Kiel Diller and Amy and Dan Larimore.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Schramm.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Gomer United Church of Christ, Gomer. The Rev. Brian Knoderer will officiate. Burial will be in Gomer Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where an OES service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
