Vandals hit Country Club Hills neighborhood

BATH TOWNSHIP - Residents in the Country Club Hills area woke up Sunday morning to discover that vandals had made their way through the neighborhood.

More than 20 reports of vandalism were reported late Saturday and early Sunday, said Maj. Clyde Breitigan, of the Allen County Sheriff's Office.

"Mostly tires were slashed and there were a couple of plastic liners in swimming pools slashed," he said.

The reports came from around the Country Club Hills area, not concentrated in just a few blocks, Breitigan said. Country Club Hills is the neighborhood between Reservoir Road and Harding Highway, across from the fairgrounds.

The Sheriff's Office suspects that juveniles are responsible and officials were following several leads Monday.

Breitigan said having this many reports of vandalism in one night is uncommon.

"Even when you have them," he said. "We usually don't have any more than four or five at one time."
