Our village supported many cigar factories in the late 1800s/ early 1900s. One very popular was “Baldy's Best” manufactured by Bowersox / Wheeler Cigar Company. An advertisement was “Go North, Go South, Go East, Go West – there is no cigar like Baldy's Best”; captured First Prize at St. Louis Fair in 1904.
