The two GOP candidates for State Representative here in the 4th District shared their views in a debate. It will be replayed on GTV2. This debate was a mix of Tea Party and Libertarian views, a page right out of Karl Roves playbook, divide and conquer. It even included the obligatory “liberal” slur.

If you are a single issue voter you would have been confused by their opinions. The most startling, was that one of them is pro-life but would support abortion to save the life of the mother, and he was endorsed by Right To Life. The other would not support abortion in any circumstance. So there you have it voters, one view or the other, you cannot have it both ways. They will put off any legislation to help the 4th District create jobs, just to gain notoriety, while posturing against a woman’s right to choose.

The debate continued as an all out “war on women, war on workers and a war on wages.” Neither one supported raising the minimum age even though it would be a gradual increase ad raise prices a few pennies per items. There was no mention of the paycheck fairness act that would make it legally binding for women to receive equal pay compared to the current 77 cents for every dollar a man makes for the same job. The looming anti-union Right-To-Work laws were not discussed.

The closing statements were the most telling as they never admitted that this county and district are in the midst of a deep recession with three people chasing every job.
