LIMA — The family of Dexter Adams continues to work hard to ensure his memory lives on and that families with children diagnosed with cancer receive the assistance they need.

To help area families coping with the emotional and physical expense of a child battling the disease, the second annual Dexter Adams Memorial Baseball Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at Shawnee schools’ Reinhardt Athletic Complex on Zurmehly Road. Tournament play begins at 8 a.m. Saturday with the last game starting at 6:30 p.m. Last year’s event generated $6,000 to assist area families.

Pulled pork boxed lunches and various raffles will be held that weekend. Sponsors as well as individual donations are also needed. Dexter lost his battle with Leukemia at age 3 in November 2012. All proceeds from the event benefit the Dexter Adams Foundation. The family works with area hospitals to identify those families most in need of assistance.
