Tragic news of the death of a 13 year-old spread throughout Richland County and surrounding areas over the weekend.
The incident, took the life of Micaiah Christian Erich, on Thursday, December 26; it reportedly involved the youth’s use of a swing, which sources close to the family have described similar to a zip line, located in a barn on the property of the family’s home located on Clever Road.
The boy’s father, Ron Erich, owner of the Warrior in Ontario, is said to have found his son Thursday afternoon unresponsive; he was later transported to Med/Central where he was pronounced dead.
Erich, his wife Mimma, along with their family and friends, laid their son to rest on Monday, December 30. Micaiah was buried at Bunkerhill Cemetery in Butler.
Richland County Sheriff’s investigators in collaboration with the Richland County Coroner’s office, led by coroner Stewart Ryckman, are heading up an investigation concerning the cause of the incident, whether accidental or suicide. A rilling is expected to be issued by investigators in early 2014.
