The right-wing writers to the paper seem to be proud of their self-imposed ignorance.
The latest example is one of these people claiming the Elida school district’s financial problems should be laid at the feet of President Barack Obama.
Facts seem to confuse them but they are again facts.
The state of Ohio, led by the Republicans, cut school funding. In fact, Elida was and is operating on a 1998 budget because of the state’s actions, not the president’s.
The same is true in the city of Delphos, whose leaders must now decide if they should cut police and fire employees. Again, as a result of the state “balancing” it’s budget on the backs of cities and counties.
To claim the president’s energy policies are bad, one only has to read the paper to see the country is producing more oil than any time in history and natural gas production sets new records every day. Keystone oil will be exported.
And, as for those who say we should impeach him, where were they when George Bush invaded Iraq? We lost 4,200 soldiers and 20,000 horribly wounded because of an outright lie.
Remember two things about the Republican plan to balance the budget. We must cut Medicare and Social Security. Jim Jordan and crew always say “entitlements” hoping we won’t realize what they mean. If you can give up your Medicare, refuse to use it when you are hospitalized.
