LIMA — Sheriff’s deputies were investigating an armed robbery that took place on state Route 65, just south of State Road on Saturday.
Alexis Rodriguez, 58, was returning to Lima from Ottawa when he pulled over to check a strange noise coming from his vehicle. Two men in a car stopped and approached him, said Chief Deputy Jimmy Everett of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
“They asked him if everything was OK, and one of the subjects produced a small handgun and demanded the victim’s money,” Everett said.
Rodriguez gave the men money he had on him. One of the men then hit Rodriguez over the head with an unknown metal object. The men drove off, Everett said.
Rodriguez picked himself off the ground and drove to the hospital, where he called the Sheriff’s Office. He was not seriously injured, Everett said.
There are no suspects in the case, and it remained under investigation, Everett said Monday.
