Richard Harry Currier

LIMA ó Richard Harry Currier, 81, passed away June 15, 2013.

Richard was born Dec. 9, 1931, to Leora and Theodore Currier in Toledo.

He was employed for more than 35 years at Phillips/Emro Propane Gas Co., in Northwood, from where he retired. Richard was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was past commander at American Legion Post 55, Adams Township, and Chef de Gare at Voiture 141 40 et 8, both of which he was very active in.

Richard married Dorothy Roberts on Nov. 27, 1951, and she passed away on Dec. 27, 1986. He then married Arlene Dershem McClain on Feb. 22, 1992, and she survives him. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Theodore; and sister, Marlene Hernandez.

Besides his wife Arlene, Richard is survived by his sons, Douglas (Cathy), of Toledo, Iowa, and Brian, of England; daughters Pam Allen, of Shreve, Rebecca (Gary) Sharlow, of Delaware, Ohio, Brenda (Pat) Johnson, of Montour, Iowa, and Kim Currier, of Toledo, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six stepchildren, 20 stepgrandchildren and 24 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Highway, where American Legion Post 553 will hold services at 7 p.m. immediately followed by Voiture 141 40 et 8 services. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the mortuary, followed by interment with military honors at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
