John Israel Steffen, 84, died March 3, 2013, as a result of an auto accident in Fort Myers, Fla.
He was born July 3, 1928, in Pandora to the late Sam and Rose Garber Steffen. On July 10, 1965, he married Marilyn Jane DeVore, who also died in the accident.
He is survived by three children, Terry (Dee) Steffen, of Pandora, Cheryl Steffen, of Ventura, Calif., and Kimberly (Gregory) Cramer, of Defiance; and five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jesse) Crowe, Jeremy Steffen, Andrew Steffen, Renae Cramer and Emily Cramer.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
John was a retired self-employed roofer for Steffen Brothers Roofing. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, North Fort Myers, Fla., and Healing Streams Pentecostal Church of God, Gilboa . He belonged to the Bluffton Area Shuffle Board and Country Lake Shuffle Board associations. He was a world traveler before he retired with his wife in Florida and loved riding his motorcycle. He was caring and generous to many. He often helped out someone in need. His family was his pride and joy.
Joint funeral services, for him and his wife, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Healing Streams Pentecostal Church of God, Gilboa . Pastor Wayne Baldridge will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
