Just when the Thanksgiving turkey leftovers are being enjoyed in your household you can start thinking about the Christmas season. Several area communities, groups, and businesses have planned special events for area residents to enjoy during this holiday season. The following is a list of the many upcoming events planned for your enjoyment of the season.



Saturday, Nov. 24



Glandorf Christmas in the Park



This is the 16th annual "Christmas in the Park.” Enjoy a "Winter Wonderland" of fun and great holiday spirit at the Glandorf Community Park.



Thousands and thousands of lights will adorn the Glandorf Park and Santa Claus



will be coming to town via a fire engine. Santa, bringing bags of goodies for



every child, will be on hand to hear children’s wish lists.



Sunday, Nov. 25



20th Annual Ottawa Christmas Parade



The Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 20th Annual Welcome Santa Parade followed by food and entertainment in Ottawa Memorial Park. The parade will start at 2 p.m. from the corner of Locust and Fourth Streets near Sts. Peter and Paul Church.



Immediately following the parade, FREE family-friendly activities will take place in Ottawa Memorial Park including visits and photos with Santa Claus, treat bags from Santa, horse drawn wagon rides, a professional ice sculptor, entertainment by OGHS Show Choir and students from The Performing Arts Center, Glandorf, along with free hotdogs, chili soup, cookies and beverages.



The Christmas lighting display in the park will also begin the same evening at 5 p.m.



Sunday, Nov. 25



Columbus Grove Christmas in the Park



Columbus Grove will be sponsoring Christmas in the Park again this year on Sunday, Nov 25 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Park.



The activities will kick off with Mayor Wright turning on the Christmas lightings in the park. Santa will arrive on the Columbus Grove fire truck with treats for all the kiddies. Horse & carriage rides will be available all evening. Cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, hot dogs and chili soup will be served.



There will be a variety of entertainment throughout the evening. Gary Westhoven will be bringing his reindeer again. This was a hit last year. The Tap On Wood Dancers will perform along with several young singers from the area.



The Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring pictures with Santa for a donation. These will be taken by Wynn’s Photography.



Sunday, Nov. 25



Gilboa Christmas in the Park



Christmas in the Park will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the official lighting at the park. A soup and sandwich meal will also be served at the Gilboa/Blanchard Fire Station with a visit by Santa Claus included. Guests are asked to bring donated items for the Ottawa Food Pantry to the event.



Saturday, Dec. 1



BRAG Holiday Art Show



OTTAWA - The Blanchard River Art Guild will hold its annual Holiday Art Show on Saturday, December 1st from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The show will take place at the Schroeder’s Center for the Arts, 162 W. Main Street, Ottawa. Featured will be the works of 12 local artists, including pottery, paintings, jewelry, floral arrangements, etc. Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day.



Performers include Steve Otto, Charlie Doepker and the O-G Show Choir. Children’s activities, including “make and take” art projects and caricature drawings will be available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.



At 3:00, Rhonda Wolke, founder and creative director at Serendipity Home, Gifts, and Florals, will present a free demonstration. Admission to the BRAG Holiday Art Show is free and open to the public.



Sunday, Dec. 2,



Christmas Tree Festival at the Library



The Putnam County Library will host an open house on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for their Christmas Tree Festival at the Ottawa Library on Putnam Parkway. Visitors can see the many trees on display in the library and also enjoy a visit from Santa Clas.



The Christmas Tree festival at the library is from Dec. 1 through Dec. 27. The library is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. -3 p.m. on Saturday to view the trees and to use the library’s services.



Sunday, Dec. 2.



Ottoville Winterfest



OTTOVILLE- The community will host their annual Winterfest from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with numerous activities for all ages.



Friday, Dec. 7 & Sunday Dec. 9



Christmas at the Museum



KALIDA - The Putnam County Historical Society will host their annual Christmas Open house on Friday, Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include special displays, music and a visit from Santa Claus on Sunday.



Friday, Dec. 7



Putnam Acres Christmas Extravaganza and Christmas Wreath Festival



OTTAWA – Putnam Acres Care Center will host a Christmas Extravaganza and Christmas Wreath Festival on Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include a soup and sandwich menu along several vendors offering items for your Christmas shopping needs.



You can also view the various wreaths donated by individuals, businesses and service clubs on display at the care center. The wreaths are up for silent auction from Dec. 1 through 10 a.m., Dec. 21. Proceeds from the silent auction will be given to the Putnam County United Way.



Sunday, Dec. 16



Meadows of Kalida 6th Annual Tree Gala



KALIDA – The Meadows of Kalida will host their 6th Annual Tree Gala from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You are invited to come to The Meadows to view the numerous Christmas trees and wreaths that have been donated by local individuals, businesses and clubs for silent auction. Snacks, appetizers, and entertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon. A silent auction will begin at 4 p.m. for the trees. The trees with all their decorations can be picked up anytime after Dec. 26. Proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Putnam County Historical Society.
