LIMA — Sewer rates in Allen County are going up, Sanitary Engineer Steve Kayatin told Allen County commissioners this morning.
Single-family residential service billings will increase from $123 to $135 per quarter starting in February, Kayatin said. Even with the increase, rates will still be behind the scheduled rate of $152 that was developed as part of a 10-year plan in 2005. The plan and the increase are to help Kayatin’s office address improvements mandated by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
Kayatin also said that effective management of his office, interest savings from refinancings and other cost-saving measures helped sewer rates in Allen County remain about $100 cheaper than the state average.
