Broderick James "Brody" Harrison, 21, died at 9:47 p.m. June 27, 2009, at the emergency room of Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Nov. 1, 1987, in Lima, to Wayne R. Harrison II and Candria D. McDonald Prowant. His father survives in Lima; his mother survives in Waynesfield.
Mr. Harrison was a 2006 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He attended University of Northwest Ohio studying diesel mechanics. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed life and loved spending time with his son, Kayden. He was known for his intelligence and competitiveness. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors also include a son, Kayden James Harrison, of Lima; his maternal grandfather, James A. McDonald Sr., of Lima; his parental grandfather, Wayne R. Harrison, of Greenwood, S.C., his paternal grandmother, Barbara Shaw, of Beebe, Ark.; a sister, Brandi R. Harrison, of Waynesfield; a brother-cousin, Tyler M. Bowen, of Lima; four aunts, LaCinda E. (Jay S.) Atkins, of Lima, Margene McDonald, of Cridersville; Dawn Williams, of Beebe, Ark.; and April Harrison, of South Carolina; seven cousins, Kalee L. Bowen, of Lima, Charlotte Renea (Matt) Mericle, of Bluffton, Evan James McDonald and Gestawn Rose McDonald, both of Cridersville, and Jessica Williams, Joey Williams and Andrew Williams, all of Arkansas; his companion, Amanda K. Ketteman, of Lima; a stepmother, Carol Harrison, of Lima; and a large stepfamily that loved Broderick like a brother.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sharon R. (Dehner) McDonald; and an uncle, James A. McDonald Jr.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Eastside Chapel. Pastor Gary Rummel will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the family for a trust for Kayden James Harrison.
